They have great communication skills, are very knowledgeable about market trends/conditions. An experinced office staff with support from a team of maintenance professsionals insures that both owner’s and renters receive top notch service in the fastest time possible. Would not use any other property management company. These folks are the best!
We have been tenants with Gordon James Realty for over 2 years now, and it’s been such a great experience. Whenever we’ve had an issue, be it an emergency or a quick question, the team at Gordon James is so quick to respond, and usually gets someone out to the property within the next 24 hours. Knowing that they have their own maintenance staff truly puts my mind at ease. And the fact that we don’t have to be home for all the maintenance work is even better. Paying rent online through their portal is a nice added benefit.
Working with our main point of contact, we know we can always expect a straightforward response to our emails, as well as a day-brightening, “Happy Friday!” at the end of her responses. We have rented from home owners who have not used a property management company and I can honestly say this has been a much better experience. Our property manager sees things from both points of view (tenant and owner) and is able to give background information to help us understand why something is or isn’t a certain way.
We recommend working with this company to all of our friends who are looking to rent in Washington DC and the surrounding area. Their website is so helpful, and we know we can always get a response within a reasonable amount of time. That right there is the most important thing for us- responsiveness. Even on weekends and holidays, we know we can get in touch with someone in the event of an emergency.
My roommate I had the pleasure of viewing three different apartments with one of the listing agents at Gordon James realty and we were nothing but pleased.
I called their office and was put in touch with Tom who scheduled the appointment and was at the first property before our arrival (this was a plus because I hate waiting!). He took us through all three apartments and answered all of our questions. When we decided which unit we wanted to rent, Tom was very quick to follow up with a credit and background check and kept me informed throughout the entire process.The place we settled on was clean when we moved in and everything was executed flawlessly (they even recommended very reasonable moving companies in the area). The only issue we have had with the apartment since moving in was that one morning we woke up to find no hot water. To address the issue, I called the property manager and they assured me the problem would be fixed later that day. I thought it was too good to be true but sure enough, when I arrived home from work, everything was taken care of. I have lived in four different apartments with three different property managers and this company is by far the best that I have experienced. If I ever move again, I will use these guys. Very happy with my new home!

I purchased a condo in the DC area before the whole housing market downturn and decided to rent it out recently rather than sell it (I have since moved to NYC for a new job). I hired Gordon James Realty to be the property manager for my condo and have been very impressed with their level of service. Granted, this is my first time working with a property manager, but they have been very responsive and willing to accommodate my numerous “quirks.” It was a very simple and straightforward process — Tom and team have been a joy to work with (not to mention finding renters to actually rent my condo).
They are very quick to get things fixed and keep me informed and up to date on my property. The fees are reasonable and I don’t have any complaints so far. Definitely could not be more happy with the service.
When I decided to move to Shanghai, China for work, my neighbor recommended Gordon James to me to manage my condo while I am overseas. It has been over six months and I have been very pleased and satisfied with the level of customer service and professionalism from Tom and his staff. My wife and I bought our first house, and six months later, we were moving to California. I searched everywhere for a good property manager, and talked with a lot of people in the process. In the end, it was a pretty easy choice. Tom and his team at Gordon James were by far the most responsive and accommodating property managers I came across.
